Introduction and Raisin Exercise

Mindfulness isn't something you can learn or really understand by reading a book, or watching some videos or listening to someone talk about it. Mindfulness is something you experientially through practice. So although we'll be talking about mindfulness and describing various aspects of it, the essence of this program is about learning to be more mindful through mindfulness exercises and meditations we do during the sessions that you then practice on your own between sessions.

So with that in mind we're going to start off with a simple mindfulness practice do you give you a taste of what mindfulness is, before we start to talk about it.

Mindful Eating Raisin Exercise

For our first mindfulness practice, you’ll need:

  • A raisin, or if you don’t have a raisin, any small, bite-sized piece of food is fine
  • A quiet place where you won’t be interrupted or distracted
