Last week we learned the importance of being mindful of our breath and began training ourselves to be able to keep our attention focused on our breath while following our breathing. Now we build upon this foundation and learn our first formal meditation, a mindfulness of the breath sitting meditation.

  • For the Mindfulness of Breath meditation, you'll need a place to sit:
    • cross-legged on the floor, perhaps on a cushion; or
    • on a firm chair with no armrests (such as a kitchen or dining room chair) where you can sit with your feet flat on the floor and your back not resting on the back of the chair
